Home Air Filters For Simple Air Purification is a post from: Best Air Purifier

When people think of purifying the air in their home, they tend to overlook a cheap and easy product that can help: home air filters.

Home air filters will work for you if you have a central heating and cooling system in your home. They are cheaper than air purification systems, as effective and easier to operate. There are several ways to choose the perfect home air filters for you and there are many reasons why, as well.

Home Air Filters Use Your Forced Air System To Purifier The Air

You should choose home air filters before buying an air purification system, first, because the filters are cheaper. The filters work the same way air purification systems do by attracting airborne allergens and circulating clean air back into the house. These filters require less energy than air purification systems and they do not produce ozone. Ozone is a lung irritant that can be harmful to humans. Plus, home air filters are easy to install; you just insert the filter into your heating and cooling system.

Keep in mind that home air filters are not good at picking up large particles that have already settled, like mold and pet dander. These allergens must be airborne for the filters to grab them. Regular house cleaning will make it easier for your home air filters to work. This is a problem with home air purifier systems, as well.

Home Air Filters and MERV Ratings

You must choose the home air filters that fit the system you have in your home. If you don’t choose the right one, it will not work properly. Most home air filters have Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV) ratings of 1-20. The higher the rating, the more efficient (and more expensive) the filter will be. To save on the cost, whether you choose a filter with a MERV rating of 1 or 16, buy the filters in bulk. This will also make changing the filters easier because you’ll have one available to you when needed.

For residential systems (especially in smaller homes), a MERV rating of 1-4 is generally used, although they don’t directly improve the quality of your indoor air. They can easily pick up small particles like viruses, bacteria and dust mites and they do help your system perform better. They are only mildly effective for large particles.

If the filter system has a MERV rating of 5-13, it can remove larger particles at a reasonable rate. If the home air filters have a rating of 7-13, they are generally as effective as HEPA filters found in home air purification systems, but they are considerably less costly and less noisy. HEPA filters normally have MERV ratings of 17-20 and there are home air filters that have this MERV rating, as well. However, most home systems cannot accommodate home air filters with a MERV rating of more than 16.

Home air filters can normally be found at any store that offers air filtration and heating and cooling products. This makes them easily accessible. Also, if you’re unsure what filter will fit your home heating and cooling system, a store employee will be able to help you make an informed decision. When looking into the best ways to filter the air in your home, try home air filters before looking into air purification systems.

Save your money (and possibly your health) and avoid the Ionic Breeze Air Purifier.

Ionic Breeze Air Purifier: May Cost More Than It’s Worth is a post from: Best Air Purifier

The Ionic Breeze air purifier was the most well known name in air purification technology for years, and many people still associate the Ionic Breeze with high quality air purifiers.

The truth is, they shouldn’t because the Ionic Breeze air purifier does not use unique technology to run its systems, nor is it completely effective. In fact, it may cost you more than it’s worth because it could actually be harmful to your health.

Sharper Image sold the Ionic Breeze purifier until places like Consumer Reports and many others began performing independent testing on the air purifier. It was found the product emitted high levels of ozone, a lung irritant that is potentially fatal to infants, the elderly and people with breathing issues; that includes people with allergies, who were buying the product to help alleviate their allergies. The FDA has a limit on the amount of ozone such a product is allowed to emit, so Sharper Image added an attachment to the Ionic Breeze that would reduce the ozone levels, but they were only reduced to barely make the FDA requirements. That meant they could still be dangerous to certain people.

Sharper Image and the Ionic Breeze Air Purifier

After this information came out, the Ionic Breeze air purifier and Sharper Image tried to revamp their product, but each subsequent version still failed independent testing. Ozone was not the only issue; the product simply did not work the way it claimed, and better (and cheaper) products were on the market. Sharper Image lost a strong customer base and eventually went bankrupt. Now the Ionic Breeze can be found on infomercials, Office Depot and websites like Amazon.com. While these places do offer the Ionic Breeze at a discounted rate, it’s still sold at a hefty cost for a product that simply does not work. The Sharper Image website (SharperImage.com) does not offer the Ionic Breeze, but they have upgraded their air purifiers to newer (more expensive) models.

Lessons Learned From the Ionic Breeze Air Purifier

Before buying an Ionic Breeze air purifier of any model or version (or any other air purifier, for that matter), look at the technology used in the product. The Ionic Breeze boasts not using HEPA filters in their products, which is a draw for many people as replacing these filters can be costly and time consuming. By not using the HEPA, the Ionic Breeze also uses less electricity. That is where the positive aspects stop, however, because HEPA systems filter air much faster than other systems. Also, the Ionic Breeze products use cheap technology. There are air purification systems at discount retail stores that use the same technology as the Ionic Breeze and cost much less.

The Ionic Breeze air purifier has been well known for years thanks to proper marketing and advertising. However, that marketing and advertising failed to mention the Ionic Breeze air purifier may eventually cost you much more than you bargained for. With the cost of replacing the system when it fails to work, the cost of an attachment to reduce ozone levels and the cost for medical bills should the ozone emitted effect your health, the Ionic Breeze air purifier is a poor choice for an air purification system.

If you know what to look for, air purifier ratings can save you time, energy and money.

What To Look For When Reading Air Purifier Ratings is a post from: Best Air Purifier

When reading air purifier ratings to decide what system is best for you, there are things you can look for to make your research more thorough. Not all of the ratings will give you accurate information and just one rating probably won’t cover all of the information you want or require to make a decision. To get the most from the air purifier ratings you read, do the following:

Read Company Air Purifier Ratings First

Many different companies do independent testing on the performance of air purifiers. There are many air purifiers on the market, so you should first read about the specifics of the models in which you are interested. You can narrow down your search by looking for those that fit your price range or, at the very least, that you think will fit your individual needs.

After you have chosen several different air purifiers you want to consider, look at more than one of the independent testing sites (like the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers or Consumer Reports) to determine which air purifier cleans the best. Different sites offer different ratings on the same air purifier, so it’s best to visit more than one site. When looking at these sites, keep in mind that some sites do offer ratings and reviews that have been paid for. One way to determine if the rating you are reading has been paid for, research the site it is listed on to find out if they are connected with the company.

Check the rating to determine if the testing done on the air purifier was done for an office space, a whole house or just a single room. If you need an air purifier for your whole house, you wouldn’t want to rely on a test that only focused on one room. That would probably leave you with an air purifier that didn’t do what you wanted. Also, check the rating to determine if the product was tested for large or small air particles. If you have severe allergies and are relying on an air purifier to help clean airborne allergens, you will want an air purifier that can clean large and small particles from the air.

When checking what the air purifier pulls in, also check what it puts out; specifically, check the ozone levels. Ozone is a lung irritant that can be fatal to some people. Air purifiers are known to produce ozone in varying levels and all air purifier ratings that claim to be from an independent company should list if the air purifier puts out ozone.

Air Purifier Ratings From Your Fellow Consumers

Read customer ratings second. They’re your peers and probably have readers’ best interests in mind when they rate a product, but customers are not always the most reliable when it comes to rating a product. Some ratings are poor not because the product doesn’t work, but because the customer is mad at the company for some reason, be it poor customer service or a delay in delivering the product. While these things are important to know, it’s best to read exactly why the customer is unhappy with the product and not look solely at the rating.

Some customers buy air purifiers without doing their homework and will write a bad review simply because they didn’t get what they thought they would. On the other side, some reviews will be nothing but positive and that may be because the rating is either fake or paid for. If you already have information on the product, weeding through the customer ratings will be easier. For these reasons, it’s best to read customer air purifier ratings after you know the facts about the various models.

What Are Air Purifier Reviews Not Telling You? is a post from: Best Air Purifier

Air purifier reviews are a great resource when deciding what type of air purifier you want to purchase. The reviews will tell you about the appearance, features, prices and possible mechanical issues with air purifiers, but there are things that most reviews do not tell you. Below is a list of important considerations that air purifier reviews don’t mention and what you should know before purchasing an air purifier.

Not All Air Purifier Reviews Are Un-Biased

Like many types of product reviews, some air purifier reviews are paid for. There is a very real possibility that you have read at least one air purifier review that was paid for by the manufacturer of an air purifier. The review may be positive for the air purifier or negative, but it’s not illegal for a manufacturer to pay someone to write a review on a product. There are sites that do not purchase reviews of any kind, but they may be hard to spot. If a site consistently feature one type of air purifier, research the site. They may be a stakeholder in that air purifier company.

Air Purifier Reviews and Ozone

Some air purifiers emit ozone, a lung irritant that can become toxic that is generally produced by electrostatic air cleaners. While some air purifier reviews will mention ozone, many will not tell you how much ozone the air purifiers put out. The FDA regulates how much ozone a medical device can emit, but since home air purifiers are not listed as medical devices, the ozone they produce is not strictly monitored or recorded. Independent testing sites do test the ozone levels from air purifiers, though, and doing a specific Internet search for ozone in specific models should give you that information.

Most Air Purifier Reviews Assume You Need an Air Purifier

You may not really need an air purifier. Many experts, including people who do independent testing on air purifiers, do not think people need home air purifiers. Sure, most do work to an extent and make the air smell better, but there are other methods of removing allergens like cigarette smoke and pet dander. For instance, not smoking inside and regular cleaning does more to remove these allergens than an air purifier. Most air purifiers do not work to remove allergens on their own and must be coupled with regular cleaning and ventilating to be fully effective. Even the EPA and the American Lung Association recommend using other methods to control allergens before resorting to air purifiers.

There is little medical and scientific evidence confirming that air purifiers work the way they claim. Air purifiers are not made equally when it comes to performance. However, many air purifier reviews claim that “this” air purifier works just like “that “ air purifier and many do not give specifics. For this reason, it’s important to look at the independent test results of each unit. Also, although air purifiers remove many airborne particles, most do not remove viruses, like many of them claim.

When it comes to finding an air purifier, it’s important to carefully read the air purifier reviews for what they are — and are not– telling you.

Although many allergy and asthma sufferers benefit from air purifiers, does everybody need one?

Air Purifiers – Do You Really Need One? is a post from: Best Air Purifier

Filtered air purifiers and other air cleaners like UV and Ionic air purifier models claim to rid the air of air-born allergens that can wreak havoc on your health, but do they really work and is an air purifier for you?

Not all air purifiers are made equal, and each person’s needs and wants are different. To find out if an air purifier is for you, there are some things you should know.

The Truth About Air Purifiers

The EPA, American Lung Association and independent groups that have done extensive research on many different brands of air purifiers all say the majority of people can do just fine without an air purifier. In fact, studies have shown that regular dusting, ventilating and vacuuming, as well as not smoking in the house can reduce more airborne allergens than air purifiers. Even washing and brushing your pets (including cats) can significantly reduce the amount of pet hair and dander that is released into your air, possibly eliminating the need for an air purifier.

One major cause of allergens is dust mites and their eggs and droppings. These are not airborne particles, though, so air purifiers will not pick them up. Although some HEPA filter type units work on viruses and other germs, most air purifiers do not remove them. For these reasons, regular cleaning like the methods listed above are much more effective than air purifiers. While people with severe asthma and allergies can benefit from air purifiers, they don’t benefit from the purifiers alone. In fact, most reviews from reputable sources say you must combine regular cleaning to make the purifiers as effective as possible.

There are alternatives to air purifiers that may work just as well or better. One alternative is a whole-house furnace filter, which costs about $15 and removes dust, dust mites, mold spores, pet dander, pollen, bacteria, viruses, smoke and other contaminants in the air. These filters simply replace a regular furnace filter if you have forced-air heating or cooling. Other alternatives include household plants, oscillating and ceiling fans and bamboo charcoal air purifiers.

Drawbacks to Air Purifiers

One alternative that is not recommended is scented candles, air freshener, scented carpet powder or other fragranced products that claim to do what activated carbon in a quality air purifier is supposed to do — deal with odors and make your air smell cleaner. They will make the air smell cleaner briefly, but the smell does not last and the chemicals you spray into your home can make allergies and other breathing and medical issues worse. And speaking of making matters worse, some air purifiers emit ozone, a lung irritant that can turn toxic, especially for children and the elderly and adults that have medical issues.

Another drawback to home air purifiers that some people may not be able to handle is their cost. Some air purifiers are cheaper than others, but many, especially the more effective ones, have the extra cost of replacement filters or parts and all must be maintained regularly in order for them to continue working properly.

Air purifiers, especially HEPA air purifiers, do work to one degree or another and top brands like Honeywell, IQAir, Blueair and Austin Air can be a big help if an allergy is your issue, but to make them truly effective you must do regular cleaning in your home. If you already keep a clean, well-dusted household, but are not sure if you can afford the cost of even the cheapest air purifier, there are alternatives and air purifiers may not be right for you.

Room air purifiers can help rid us of one of the top five environmental health risks we all live with: indoor air pollution.

Indoor air pollution doesn’t just smell bad; it is dangerous. Allergens in the air can make people sick and can even be fatal to the elderly, infants and people with impaired breathing. Thankfully, room air purifiers provide an inexpensive, quiet and quick solution to the unwanted pollution.

The Rise in Popularity of Room Air Purifiers

While the Environmental Protection Agency recommends combating indoor air pollution with fresh out-door air, that’s not always a solution for some. Weather and out-door air pollution conditions can make the indoor air problem even bigger. In the event that it’s not possible to bring in fresh out-door air, a room purifier makes a great substitute.

Room air purifiers can clean air room by room; most are not intended for filtering the whole house. They are, however, ideal for small spaces, like apartments and offices. Some desktop models can clean as much as 650 square feet in one area. Due to their size, they tend to be very quiet and energy efficient and that has helped them grow in popularity over the past few years.

Another reason room air purifiers may be growing in popularity is due to more research in natural, or chemical and medication free, living. People are beginning to realize that many medications only mask the problem of allergy relief and don’t actually correct it.

Room Air Purifiers Give Relief To Those With Breathing Sensitivities

Allergies can be triggered or created by a number of things, including dust, smoke, animal dander, pollen, mold, roach droppings and even air fresheners or other fragrances that many people use to mask the smell of indoor air pollutants. Room air purifiers can help rid your rooms of these allergens and freshen the air.

There are two main types of room air purifiers- mechanical air filters and electronic air cleaners. Mechanical air filters work by removing particles through capturing them on filter materials. HEPA filters fall in this category. Electronic air cleaners purify a room through a process called electrostatic attraction that creates and traps charged particles. Almost all room air purifiers use a combination of HEPA filters and electricity. Some room air purifies that use the electrostatic attraction method have been known to create high levels of ozone, a lung irritant, so it is recommended that you check the specifics of each room air purifier before purchase.

Since they are small, cleaning multiple rooms may require multiple room air purifiers. It’s important to place them in areas where they have access to air flow and remember to change the filters often so as not to damage the unit.

While it may seem like a small change that won’t make much difference, keep in mind room air purifiers can be used all year long. Many people look at allergies as a seasonal problem, when it’s a problem that really never goes away. Allergens do not rest just because the weather changes and neither will a room air purifier.

Benefits of an Alen Air Purifier is a post from: Best Air Purifier

The average American spends approximately $185 a year on allergy medications, but an Alen air purifier can help consumers feel better and save money.

The Alen company is based out of Austin, Texas, a city known for many things from art, music and culture, but that hides a terrible secret. The amount and different types of beautiful trees and plants that surround and liven the city cause a major problem: allergies.

Alen wanted to help people who suffer from allergies live a better life so they began distributing air purifiers online. They received great feedback from the customers they helped and learned that air-born pollutants were also causing high cases of asthma, flu and odors.

Alen Air Purifiers and the Negative Effect of Positive Ions

One controversial reason for other symptoms customers were feeling is ions in the air. In the 1930s it was suggested that air ions might affect human health. From the 1950’s-1960’s, several studies indicated that health, mood and even mental and physical performance were negatively effected by too many positive air ions.

During times when there were a high number of positive ions, people were shown to suffer from headaches (some severe enough to be migraines), depression, behavior changes, psychological illness, fatigue, congestion, respiratory problems and increased number of accidents. On the opposite end, when more negative ions were in the air people have shown less irritability and depression, better breathing, increased relaxation and less fatigue. In other studies it was indicated that high numbers of negative air ions increased tolerance of stressors and reduced effects of stress. There was also improvement in concentration.

After learning more about the needs of their customers, Alen decided the best way to address those needs was to design their own purifier. In 2004, the Alen air purifier was introduced. All of the Alen air purifiers boast a HEPA air purifier with ionization. Those filters have a negative ionizer rod that produces negative ions but is ozone (a lung irritant sometimes produced by air purifiers) safe.

The negative ions produced from the Alen air purifiers may have health benefits far beyond allergy relief. It is important to note, however, that every person reacts differently to negative and positive ions.

Alen Air Purifiers – Always Room to Improve

Alen also developed the Silver Ion filter for their air purifiers that is coated with Silver Ion in order to reduce the presence of fungi and bacteria in the air in as little as five minutes of operation. While bacteria and viruses are damaging to human health, Silver Ion has no effect on humans.

To ensure that customers would continue to be satisfied and serviced, Alen then introduced a Lifetime Limited Warranty for their Alen air purifiers. This is the only warranty of its kind in the air purification industry. Alen has remained concerned about quality products and customer service for their customers and pride themselves on keeping good relationships with those that purchase their products.

The warranty makes the Alen air purifier a one-time purchase that will save more money than purchasing over the counter allergy medications and will have long-term health benefits. When it comes to air purifiers that will greatly reduce health issues, save you money and leave you feeling better, the best one is an Alen air purifier.

Eco-Friendly Home Air Purifiers That Work is a post from: Best Air Purifier

Home Air Purifiers – A Solution to a Serious Risk

Home air purifiers can help to rid your home of harmful particulate and gaseous pollutants, the two types of air pollutants that are present in indoor air.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, indoor air pollution is a serious issue. So serious, in fact, the EPA has rated it among the top five environmental risks to human health.

There are many home air purifiers to choose from, and all are eco-friendly in that they remove pollutants from the air. However, there are two home air purifiers that have gone above and beyond just removing pollutants and have earned notoriety for being very eco-friendly.

Blueair Home Air Purifiers

Blueair home air purifiers deliver great results, use 100%, non-toxic, Earth-friendly recyclable materials in their design and are energy efficient. The name Blueair comes from the fact that the purifiers very quiet, especially when compared to home air purifiers by other companies. To achieve this quietness, Blueair home air purifiers combine electrostatic and mechanical HEPA technologies.

Some electrostatic home air purifiers produce unhealthy amounts of ozone, a lung irritant. Blueair’s design does not produce ozone and has even been shown to reduce ozone levels in its purified air product.

There are several models to choose from and the electronic models offer advanced digital controls such as remote operation, timers and automatic pollution-level detection. The maintenance they require includes filter replacement a few times a year and an occasional cleaning of the internal parts. This is a huge bonus from other electrostatic home air purifiers, which require frequent cleaning.

The design does have a disadvantage in that it does not have a pre-filter like many of its competitors. Pre-filters catch larger particles; that helps protect the unit from dirt and extends the life of the main filters. This lack of a pre-filter can raise the cost of the unit due to more filter replacements.

Also, the unit’s HEPASilent filters’ don’t last long, requiring them to be replaced approximately every 6 months. This is short compared to some competitors.

Blueair’s design is environmentally conscious and more durable as they are units are made of galvanized steel rather than plastic. Their filter media does not use chemical additives and the systems are energy efficient. In fact, they are the most energy efficient models on the market and have earned an Energy Star certification, which guarantees up to 35% less energy than comparable units. This makes them cost-effective as well as environmentally friendly.

The quietness, energy efficiency and controls vary on each model and it’s recommended that buyers check each model number for specifics.

IQAir Home Air Purifiers

Another model, IQAir home air purifiers, has earned much attention by producing air of such high quality that its industrial models are used in more hospitals throughout the world. IQAir’s home models can do the same for residential use. Also, IQAir air has been certified 100% ozone-free. Its design and cost-efficiency make it eco-friendly.

IQAir home air purifiers feature a triple-seal design to help prevent internal air leaks. IQAir units also have pre-filters, which means less filter changing and more savings. The design also allows each filter to be replaced independently. This is a big advantage over competitors that require the filters to be changed at the same time even when not needed.

The filters average life spans are 6-18 months up to 2-4 years for the three different types of filters. This, of course, depends on the type of environment the filters will be used to purify.

IQAir features low noise and advanced user controls that include a programmable timer, intelligent filter life monitor and remote control. Each unit uses 85 – 215 watts an hour, depending on speed. Each unit is also made of steel and not plastic.

IQAir also offers one of the best warranties for home air purifiers at a 5-year warranty period. That warranty includes parts and labor, but excludes filters. IQAir also features several models and it’s recommended that the buyer look at each model for specifics before purchasing.

No matter the design, with more people looking to be energy and cost efficient and environmentally conscious, it’s great to see more home air purifiers try to achieve all three of those goals, as well.

An air purifier with no filter to change has advantages and disadvantages.

Air Purifier No Filter is a post from: Best Air Purifier

Air Purifier With No Filter To Change – Are There Options?

If you are among the many people searching for an air purifier with no filter to replace, there are things you should know. The most widely used type of air purifier models, HEPA, do indeed use replaceable filters. Although these true HEPA filters, which are often supported by carbon pre-filter, do cost money, these types of home air purifiers should be considered as they are generally accepted to be the most effective at removing allergens and other particulates from indoor air. But if an air purifier no filter option is something about which you’re adamant, there are models that use methods other than replaceable filters to do the job of filtering your air. You’ll see a few of these air purifier no filter models and how they work below.

Technologies in the Air Purifier No Filter Category

When it comes to choosing an air purifier that uses no filter, whether you’re looking at portable air purifiers, allergy air purifiers, asthma air purifiers, there are basically three types available: Ionic, UV and Ozone.

Although an ozone air cleaner is effective at killing certain germs and chemicals, it also reacts with air to create other pollutants that can irritate the lungs and cause health issues.

In fact, many health agencies warn against using ozone generating devices, and the state of California has even banned their use. Ozone units can still be purchased, but we do not recommend them.

Ionic air purification systems work by providing a charge to airborne particles. Rather than filtering them, air ionizers either collect the particles on a plate or fan blade that has the opposite charge or cause the particles to couple with other airborne particles of the opposite charge and stop being airborne. These can be efficient air purifiers for removing germs and allergens like pollen and pet dander from the air. Some people say they also work on removing odors and that they are good cigarette smoke air purifiers, but others say they are not the best air purifier for that job. Some house air purifiers combine ionization with other technologies such as HEPA and carbon filters to produce better filtration for tobacco smoke and other odors.

UV (ultraviolet) purifiers use an ultraviolet lamp to produce light which kills microorganisms. This type of system works better on germs than on dust and allergens and so, like Ionic purifiers, is often combined with HEPA and carbon technology.

There are new approaches and ideas to air purification being tested and introduced into the marketplace regularly. As mentioned above, a true HEPA along with a carbon pre-filter is still considered the best way to purify indoor air. but there are a few capabilities the other types of filtration systems provide that HEPA does not. See the comparison chart below.

Hunter Air Purifiers - From the leader in home comfort systems.

Hunter Air Purifiers is a post from: Best Air Purifier

The Origins of Hunter Air Purifiers

Before Hunter air purifiers ever came into the picture — even before most households had electricity, John Hunter and his son produced a ceiling fan that was propelled by water. This innovative invention of the Hunters evolved from its origins in the late 1800s as electricity became commonplace. Cut to modern day where Hunter is now a premier brand and one of the quickest growing companies in the home comfort arena. The company has expanded beyond ceiling fans to humidifiers, thermostats and, now, Hunter Air Purifiers. As you would expect from a company that has thrived for over a century, their products are both durable and reliable.

About Hunter Air Purifiers

QuietFlo Hunter Air Purifiers are “true” HEPA air purifiers, which means they filter out 99.97% of all .3 micrometer particulates from the air. They also employ a pre-filter that uses activated carbon, which works great at removing cooking and pet odors and even smoke from the air. Hunter Air Purifiers are also quite reasonably priced and make a great alternative to many of the higher priced brands.

The QuietFlo Line of Hunter Air Purifiers

Hunter Air Purifiers’ QuietFlo line consists of 5 different models. Each functions pretty much the same, the main differences between the units having to do with either capacity or features. For small rooms, consider the QuietFlo 90 Hunter Air Purifier.

Like all QuietFlo Hunter Air Purifiers, the QuietFlo 90 is whisper quiet. It features a 3-speed fan, an indicator that tells you when it’s time to change the filter and it comes with a 5 year warranty and sells here for around $60, a significant discount from the suggested retail price as do the rest of the Hunter Air Purifiers here.

If your room is larger than 155 square feet but smaller than 225 square feet, the QuietFlo 85 Hunter Air Purifier might be what you’re looking for.

The QuietFlo 85 is powerful enough to change the air 6 times every hour in a room that’s 15′ by 17′, which makes this unit great for most average size rooms. It sells here for around $120.

The QuietFlo 245 Hunter Air Purifier has the same filtering capacity as the QuietFlo 85 with the added benefits of being EnergyStar rated for higher efficiency and having electronic as opposed to mechanical controls.

The QuietFlo 245, like all Hunter Air Purifiers uses a reusable carbon pre-filter. This helps keep larger particles like hair and lint from clogging up the HEPA filter. The pre-filter is easily cleaned with your vacuum. The QuietFlo 245 sells here for around $150.

For rooms up to 403 square feet, the QuietFlo 402 Hunter Air Purifier will do the job.

This unit has push button controls and a digital LCD read out. It works in rooms up to 20′ by 20′ and can be purchased here for around $200.

The QuietFlo 401 Hunter Air Purifier also handles 20′ by 20′ room and, unlike the model 402, it’s programmable.

Just like a programmable thermostat in a central air and heat system, this unit can be set pre-set to change the fan speed up to 4 times per day, 7 days per week to provide more filtration when it’s needed most. We sell it here for around $203

All Hunter Air Purifiers come with a 5 year manufacturer warranty.
